Since being re-elected in 2015, I have continued with My Plan for Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven – monitoring the £486 million new hospital development, continuing to support the Community Interest Company in their efforts to reopen the Saltdean Lido, lobbying the Government for millions of pounds of Government investment in our city, protecting our precious green spaces, working hard on traffic issues, continuing to support local residents in their fight against unauthorised traveller encampments and fighting for more jobs and investment in our area.
I was pleased to show the Secretary of State for Culture, the Rt Hon Karen Bradley, the Saltdean Lido recently and was delighted that the Meadow Vale planning application was refused last week. I will continue to be a strong local champion for our community.
On June 8th the people of Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven have a choice:
· Strong, stable leadership under Theresa May for Brexit and beyond to take us all forward
OR
· The shambles of Jeremy Corbyn propped up by the Lib Dems, SNP and Greens in a hung Parliament who would take us backwards.
Sussex-born Theresa May has visited me in Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven and has seen what a very special place our constituency is. I am proud to have been a part of Theresa May’s leadership election team last year and have been a loyal supporter ever since.
Whilst I voted to remain in the EU, I believe that the British people gave us a clear instruction that they want to leave the EU and I have always supported Theresa May in respecting that instruction. The country voted to leave the European Union and it is the duty of the Government to make sure this happens.
At this election, your vote counts. It will count to strengthen Theresa May’s and the UK’s negotiating position on Brexit. Your vote will help her secure the best deal from Europe to strengthen our economy and help us get on with the job of making life in the United Kingdom even better.
The only way you can be sure of strong and stable leadership at this election is by voting for me, Simon Kirby, Theresa May’s candidate in Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven.
