Simon Kirby, Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven was pleased to receive a response from the Rt Hon Matt Hancock MP, Minister of State for Digital and Culture following his recent letter to the Secretary of State concerning the future location of Channel 4 headquarters.

The Minister responsible for this policy area told Simon that they have launched a 12 week consultation which can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/increasing-the-regional-impact-of-channel-4-corporation.

They are consulting in order to seek the broadest range of views and evidence to inform their assessment and the Minister is very keen that any interested individuals or organisations provide their views, and would strongly encourage people to do so via the link provided above should they wish to respond.

Following the consultation, the Government will consider the evidence and determine the best way forward, including through discussion with Channel 4, to ensure that Channel 4 maximises its delivery of public value for the country as a whole.

“I firmly believe that Brighton would be an ideal place for Channel 4 to relocate to. I have suggested this to the Culture Secretary and am pleased that DCMS have launched a consultation on the matter. I would urge local residents to make their views known by taking part in the consultation.”
