Simon Kirby, Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven is encouraging Primary Schools and parents of home-schooled children to sign up for a resource pack for the Royal Mail Children’s Christmas Stamp Competition.

Only three times in Royal Mail’s history has the official Christmas stamp been designed by children – in 1966, 1981 and 2013.

The theme of the competition is “What does Christmas season mean to you?” Two winning designs will be selected by a panel of judges to appear on one of the 1st and one of the 2nd Class Christmas 2017 Christmas Stamps. As with all Special Stamps issued by Royal Mail throughout the year, both winning designs will be approved by Her Majesty The Queen.

Simon said, “It would be fantastic if a local design could be on some of the millions of items of mail sent over the Christmas period. I would like to wish the best of luck to all the children in Brighton Kemptown & Peacehaven who enter the competition.”

Primary Schools and parents of home-schooled children should visit www.royalmail.com/stampcompetition to sign up for one of the 8,000 available resource packs. All entries must be received by Friday 17 March. The 2017 winners will be announced in the summer.
