Make Change Count

I have been asked to let local residents know about the Making Change Count charity to help rough sleepers.

Rough Sleepers are becoming more and more visible in our city. Make Change Count is an alternative giving campaign organised by local charities in Brighton and Hove to help rough sleepers move away from street living. If you are able to give money then by giving to local support services you can be sure that your donation will be used to help people get off the streets rather than someone using it to help them stay on the streets.

How the funding will be spent:

Making sure professional help reaches homeless people is far more effective than giving money directly to people on the street. If you do want to donate, your small change can make a big difference to local homeless charities. You can also help by using StreetLink, one central point of contact, to share vital information when you see someone on the streets. The details will be sent to local outreach workers to look into how best to help: www.streetlink.org.uk or 0300 500 0914

How this will benefit the community:

The best chance for a homeless person to get off the streets is with professional help. Charities and support organisations are helping homeless people in the city every day of the year 24 hours a day. Outreach workers are in regular contact with people on the street, caring for their needs and providing support to help rebuild their lives.

The Make Change Count message says : "Help the homeless by giving them a hand up, not a hand out." Donate at :https://localgiving.org/appeal/makechangecount/
